Four Types of Injunctions in Florida
Attorney Kate Mesic is very familiar with the different types of injuctions in the state of Florida, and has successfully defended against them.
What Is an Injunction?
Also referred to as a “restraining order,” an injunction is an order from the court that prevents the actions of an individual accused of violence or of threatening violence. Each of the civil injunction petition types listed above has unique requirements based on the relationship the petitioner has with the accused, and the actions that occurred. These injunctions can result in different restrictions.
For example, a domestic violence injunction can:
- Prevent an individual from contacting you
- Award you temporary use of your family home
- Require the individual to attend a batterer’s intervention course
- Require the individual to surrender firearms to law enforcement
- Answer questions related to child support / time-sharing
